Sandy, Assistant Coordinator

Sandy is a dental hygienist and an assistant here at The Dental Center. She completed her studies in both hygiene and assisting at Kirkwood. She has also completed level 1 and level 2 expanded functions in Dental Hygiene.

“When I’m not working, I love to hang out with my family. I have a 7-year-old daughter that keeps me busy! I’m also known as the ‘crazy dog lady’. I volunteer with a local animal shelter fostering and taking care of dogs. If I have had the pleasure to work with you, there is a good chance you have heard about my crazy pups!”

“I have been working at The Dental Center for over 15 years and I work with some pretty amazing people. All of the doctors are amazing and provide the best care to our patients. We all make a pretty awesome team!”

There’s always a reason to smile.

Kim S.

I became Certified and Registered Dental Assistant in 1995. I have worked exclusively with Dr. Haganman since 1998 and have attended many continuing education classes on esthetic dentistry and denture implants.  I really enjoy working with patients and getting to know them.  It is so interesting to follow their case from beginning to end to see the great final result. We have terrific doctors and a state-of-the-art practice with the latest technology.

I have 3 children and spend my free time chasing them around.  I like spending time with family and friends and doing anything outdoors.

Melissa B.

Melissa has been an assistant with The Dental Center since May 2008. She completed the Dental Assisting program at Kirkwood in 2001. Melissa has also completed Expanded Functions in 2010 and a Bridge Course in 2016.

“I enjoy spending time with my daughter and cheering her on in all her many activities. Our family enjoys being outside and spending time with friends and family. We like watching Iowa Hawkeye football and all activities at our hometown school.”

“The care for patients at The Dental Center is outstanding. Everyone here takes pride in how things are handled for our patients; from the time they call in to schedule until the time they walk out the door.”

Be who you are and say what you feel, for those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.” – Bernard M. Baruch

Devin is Dr. Stovie’s orthodontic assistant. She graduated from the Dental Assisting program in 2010 and continued her training in expanded functions. Devin joined The Dental Center in 2016.

“I love working with such a great team of doctors and staff. It’s so great to have such a variety of specialists in one office so we can give our patients such excellent care!”

Remember to smile, it’s contagious!

Chelsey

“I’ve had an obsession with ever since I had braces as a kid” As a patient at The Dental Center, I decided at a young age I wanted to be in dentistry.

In December 2013 I graduated from Kirkwood Community College with my degree in Dental Assisting.  My dentistry career began at Cedar Rapids Endodontics, where I worked for 7 years.  I loved that our doctors dedicated themselves to relieving patients’ pain and showing them that root canals aren’t horror stories.

I married my high school sweetheart in 2021, and moved to Texas to follow his dream of becoming a D1 Volleyball Assistant Coach. After two years away, we decided there’s no place like home, and I started my journey as a Dental Assistant/Hygiene Assistant with The Dental Center in March 2023.

I love the variety of services that we offer here at The Dental Center. I’m truly proud of our doctors’ passion for helping their patients and our lab’s seamless work to provide the highest quality dental care.

When I’m not at the office, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, walking our two Goldendoodles (Molly and Ellie), and helping my husband’s youth volleyball recruiting business grow.

Kiley

🦷 What is Phase I Orthodontics?
Phase I starts while kids still have a mix of baby and adult teeth—usually around ages 6–10.

✨ Why do we recommend it?
Phase I isn’t about getting a perfect smile right now. It’s about guiding growth and setting the stage for a healthier, easier future smile.
✔️ Creates room for incoming adult teeth
✔️ Helps correct bite or jaw growth issues early
✔️ Can reduce the need for extractions or more complex treatment later
✔️ May shorten (or simplify!) Phase II treatment in the teen years

👀 Not every child needs Phase I, but for the right patient, early treatment can make a big difference.

If your child is around age 7 and hasn’t had an orthodontic evaluation yet, now is a great time to get scheduled!
Early looks = smart planning. 😊
